At Westside Day Nursery our focus is the children and ensuring they are being provided with not only the best possible care as well as the very best learning experiences. The in the moment approach is followed in all our settings and following the children interest which are then enhanced by the highly qualified and passionate practitioners to develop and ensure the children are developing as well as enjoying playing and exploring the environment.
Here at Westside Day Nurseries we have a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff who have the child’s best interests and needs at heart. The majority of our staff have been with us for several years and formed a highly effective team who are all working towards the same goal – high quality care and education for your child. All our staff hold a minimum Level 3 childcare qualification and have many years’ experience between them. All Managers and Deputies hold a degree in children’s learning and development.
In addition to their childcare qualification all our staff have certificates in safeguarding children, paediatric first aid, health and safety and food hygiene. All our staff have an enhanced DBS check which is updated every three years and all staff fill out a medical questionnaire to confirm their fitness for work. All staff have an on-going professional development plan so they are continuously developing their skills and knowledge ensuring a high quality stimulating environment for your child.
A key person works with a small number of children and is responsible for helping the child settle in and giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for within the setting. All key persons meet the needs of each child in their care providing a familiar caring adult for the child and the child’s parents. When children feel happy and secure they are more confident and will try new things.
Staff have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and clearly understand their role in protecting children. They are also highly skilled in supporting children with additional needs. Each child is individual and irrespective of ethnicity, culture, religion, home language, family background, learning difficulty disability or gender all children have the right to the best care possible.
From birth to the age of 5 children will develop and acquire skills which will impact on their future possibilities. The early years are vital in any child’s development.
All our settings have achieved Millie’s mark accreditations, as well as focus of safety awards with all settings achieving bronze, silver and working towards gold and platinum, as well as steps to quality awards 1 and 2.
We follow in the moment approach, through this approach we are following the children’s interest and making the learning experiences of all children both enjoyable and educational, children can develop at their own pace with practitioners guiding and supporting their overall development.
